MPA Participates in Hospital Fundraiser

Did you hear the one about the psychiatrist, counseling therapist, and nurse practitioner?
One sunny September day they decided to skip work, tee it up, shoot some birdies, and throw around a little money...
It's a true story! But it was all harmless and for a good cause. 🙂

About the Fundraiser
The Community Hospital Foundation of Tallassee hosted its annual golf tournament on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in Montgomery, Alabama.
All monies raised will go towards the purchase of new equipment and to continue renovation projects for Community Hospital, a non-profit institution providing health care services in Tallassee, Alabama and surrounding areas.
Quoting from their FaceBook page:
"We had a large turnout for the 2017 Community Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament at Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery! We appreciate all of the companies and individuals who support our foundation. All of the teams, hole sponsors, and individual donors helped to make this one of our most successful tournaments ever. THANK YOU!" ~ Community Hospital Foundation
Montgomery Psychiatry & Associates, or MPA for short, contributed to the fundraiser by fielding a four player team and paying for a "hole sponsorship".
MPA was one of 24 teams participating in this year's event.
MPA's "Fore" Horsemen consisted of:
- Dr. William Freeman, Psychiatrist and founder of MPA
- Hunter Hutchison, a board certified Psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner at MPA
- Kyle Flaherty, a Licensed Professional Counselor at MPA
- Steve Brown, a long time friend of MPA
After an enjoyable lunch and warming up with a bucket of balls on the driving range, MPA teed off shortly after 12 noon.
Pregame Mental Preparation
Overheard during their round of golf:
Dr. Freeman: "What's the problem with my golf game?"
Hunter Hutchison: "You're standing too close to the ball... after you hit it."
Later in their round:
Dr. Freeman: "Do you think my game is improving?"
Kyle Flaherty: "Absolutely! You miss the ball much closer than you used to."
After the Round
Dr. Freeman: "It takes a lot of balls to golf the way I do." 🙂
How Did MPA Do?
Kyle Flaherty placed 2nd in the “closest to the pin” contest.
Bryan, MPA's "ringer", won a $400 ice cooler!
Hunter Hutchison won a tenderloin steak for his performance.
And Dr. Freeman showed up, participated and went home with his participation trophy.
As a team, MPA tallied:
- 10 Pars
- 7 Birdies
- 1 Eagle
MPA shot 9 UNDER PAR for the round! Way to go!
